This course provides advanced knowledge of composite materials, their constituents, structural design principles, and modern manufacturing technologies. Students study polymer, carbon, metal, and multiscale composite systems, including nanocomposites and bio-based reinforcements. Emphasis is placed on conventional and advanced processing methods such as resin transfer molding, automated fiber placement, and additive manufacturing of composites.

The course integrates mechanical behavior, experimental testing, and microstructural characterization with numerical modeling to establish processing–structure–property relationships. Laboratory and project-based activities develop practical skills in fabrication, testing, and analysis of composite materials. Students apply research methods to design experiments, evaluate performance, and present engineering solutions for contemporary composite applications.
